Windows 7 Clean Install Walk-through

Here is a walkthrough on how to clean install Windows 7:

1. Make sure your first boot device, in BIOS, is your cd/dvd drive. Insert Windows 7 disk and restart your computer.
2. Your computer should begin from the Windows 7 disk and you will have message saying: "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD...".
3. Press Enter to begin the process.
4. Windows 7 pre-installation process will start. You may have to wait for some time to let it complete.
5. A window, asking for choosing the Language, Time and Currency Format and Keyboard Layout, will pop-up. Make your selection and then click Next.
6. Click on "Install Now". A window saying "Setup is starting" will pop-up.
7. You will receive a license terms agreement window. Tick "I accept the license terms" check box and click on Next button.
8. You will have window asking to select between "Upgrade" and "Custom (advanced)" option. Click on the second option.
9. Now you have to provide the location for your Windows 7 installation. Make your selection and then click Format.
10. A window will come up with a list of operations as follows:
Copying Windows Files
Expanding Windows Files
Installing Features
Installing Updates
Completing installation
11. Once all of the above procedure completes, your computer will restart by itself. Do not take any action this time.
12. Now computer will start with the logo screen and having "Setup is updating registry settings" title. And then comes "Setup is Starting Services".
13. You will then have a install window with "Completing Installation" message. Let it complete the procedure.
14. Computer will restart once again.
15. When computer started, you will have "Setup is preparing your computer for first use" message appearing on the screen. Then appears "Setup is checking video performance" on the screen.
16. You will then be asked to enter the username and computer's name. The username will be the admin login for this computer.
17. You will then be asked to provide the password and a hint for the same for your admin account.
18. You will then be asked to enter your product/serial/activation key. If you have it right now then you may provide it over here itself or else you can simply click on Next to enter this detail later on.
19. You will then be asked to set Automatic Updates settings. Make your selection.
20. You are then asked to set Windows time and date settings based on your location. Take the desired action and click on Next.
21. You are then expected to select to which network this computer belongs. Make your selection.
22. Based on your selection, the computer will try to connect to the network and thus to the internet connection.
23. Once all the settings are done, Windows setup will try to finalize all the settings and will attempt to go to Windows 7 desktop.
